Some family secrets are better off hidden.

I thought I was done with drama, but it turns out drama wasn’t done with me. A coven has abducted Gramps, demanding I hand over our "super secret" family heirloom if I want him back alive. Except the amulet has been destroyed, and they don’t believe me.

While I scramble to find a solution, bounty hunter Trace Wyatt sends my world into another spin. He’s not okay. The consequences of saving my life are wearing on him, draining him, and although he offers to help me, I don’t know if he’s up for it. Especially not when it turns out Gramps’s abduction might be linked to Trace’s dark past.

My family is in trouble, I’m falling for a man who’s struggling to hold on to himself, and somewhere in there I need to keep my pub afloat. It’s too much, but I need to figure this out before the world spins out of control.

The action doesn't stop!

In this book, we find out Trace has ghosted Alyssa. She knows he's physically in trouble because of all the souls he's holding inside. Is he okay? Is he even alive? If he is, he can kick rocks for not having communication and making her worry!

With that said, we find out Alyssa's grandfather has been kidnapped. What do they want? The amulet of souls. Knowing she will never be able to give them what they want, how is she going to save Gramps?

Dive into this action packed book and find out the struggle Alyssa has to go through in rescuing Gramps, find out what has been happening to Trace, and find out what secrets some of our favorite characters are hiding. You will not be disappointed!

Wow

Wow wow wow. Bravo Krista!! I am amazed at how well Krista is weaving this story and pacing it - Witch Possessed was hard to put down. It was action packed from the beginning to the end… I was sitting on the edge of my seat much of the book. I absolutely loved seeing the Mooney family come together and do what they do best… support and have each other’s backs. I love how they embraced Trace as one of their own. The slow burn between Alyssa and Trace is perfection - the action and fast pace of this book allowed for a perfect buildup of anticipation between them…. But I’m anxious for them to finally get more of that time together - you know, when they aren’t busy fighting a coven of witches bent on ripping their souls from their bodies. I cannot wait to read more of Trace & Alyssa and to read any other books and stories that come from this world (I’m looking at you Simon & Reverie)!!

Book two Witch Possessed - WOW!

Wow - when I finished reading the ARC version this book I thought back to when Alyssa was introduced in Chapter 5 of GHostMaker One - Obscure - as a Witch of impressive lineage!
In this second book of the series not only do we learn how strong a witch Alyssa is, but also why the Mooney family and coven are the leading coven in Ottawa.

The danger Trace and Alyssa face this time with a coven of witches who harvest spirit magic from other beings at their death. This is the group from Trace’s teenage history.

The story starts with the dark coven taking Grandfather Mooney prisoner as a ploy to access the spirits Trace has been hosting since the end of book one.
There is deadly danger and battles in this book. But there are also moments of tender personal connection between Alyssa and Trace deepening their relationship.
It is good to learn more about Alyssa's family and how they come together first to save Grandfather Mooney, than Trace, and the final show down with the Spirit Harvesters - at least until book 3. Alyssa learns more about who her Grandfather was, and who he is now. The Mooney family comes together for each battle - and both Alyssa and Trace are pushed to their limits and I think discover new depths in their own strengths and in their strength together.

Simon and Reverie have minimal presence in this book I suspect we will see them more in the next book.

I am eager to see what happens in book 3.

WOW!

It's a very different Alyssa we're confronted with in this book. This Alyssa has her life turned topsy turvy a few weeks prior, this Alyssa is more wary, this Alyssa is uncertain and concerned about her friend Simon, a sweet, unimposing, non violent chaos demon, who's acting completely out of character. But none of this is as dire at what she's dealing with now, first gramps, then Trace.... you'd like to know what, don't you? Well, you're gonna have to find out yourself. This action packed read had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning, I doubt I even blinked until I'd read it to the end.

I love the ease with which Krista crafts her magic on me, I love the ease of how she draws me in to her world, the ease with which she's shaped the her magic system, the texture of her prose, rich yet lightheaded at the same time, easy to digest, leaving a wonderful feeling of fullness in me. Krista does found family sooooo good but family family, well, she captures the love, the support, the tightness of a family unit to perfection. Look at what of her family says, "if you're with him, he's one of us now, and we don't let anything happen to family ". She always makes me WANT a found family such as she brings to her immensely powerful stories but now I wish I had a close knit family as the Mooney's....The Mooney's are a breed of their own, truly close, truly powerful, not only in their having each others backs but their magic too. The characters too are some of the coolest I've seen, all extremely likeable, whether they're MC's or not, Cole being a prime example, who's a nerdy, snarky computer whizz, scathingly acerbic genius, nothing gets past him. And I adore gramps! What a fierce old timer he is! Heck, they're ALL amazing!

Alyssa has a strength of will that few could carry off. When faced with horrors that would curl the innards of most, Alyssa doggedly pushes, perseveres. When it's her family or those she lives, she'll stop at nothing to keep them safe. Time and time again she finds herself out numbered and out magiced (yeah I made that up), in an impossible situation but she won't give in. I loved how she held nothing back to help Trace, her complicated relationship with him coming to a head really helped her determination. And gosh is Trace a sweetie! Going from Alyssa's almost assassin, to love I interest was gorgeous to behold. What wasn't so gorgeous to experience, and this author makes sure I experience EVERYTHING, was his having to confront his past, his fears, while trying not to fall apart, quite literally!

Oh goodness me were my knickers in a knot with what Trace was dealing with! My heart stuttered quite a few times thinking, ok, this is it...my word was my heart in my throat! Scrap that! ALL my internal organs had been decimated! But Krista's tug of war on my emotions were well placed, she gave equal "pushes" to all the "tug" and before long, I was whooping and tooting in glee! And then despairing, then rejoicing. Yes, THIS is what this incredible author does, she throws me in a pool feet first, teasing me alluringly into thinking I'm not in the deep end, and I'm shocked to discover I am! My conclusion? There's no other explanation, Krista is a Siren in disguise, her song wounds around me and I'm totally at her mercy!
